This week is Truth and Reconciliation Week! Acknowledging the Truth and moving forward with Reconciliation is an important part of honouring and remembering the lost children and survivors of Canada’s Residential School System. This year’s truth and reconciliation week has a specific theme. The theme is called “remembering the children”. Over 150 000 First Nation, Inuit and Métis children were made to attend “Residential schools” or “Indian Day Schools” without a say in the matter. Children are an important part of society and should have been treated as such. Every child matters. On Thursday September 29th, not only will we have a moment of silence, but it is also Orange Shirt Day. Please wear Orange on Thursday.
